The customer support demonstrated little understanding his response that ended our conversation was 'Have a nice weekend.' Quicken is the competition for Banktivity, so it's worthwhile to point out a few salient points.įirst, regardless of whether or not you use Quicken or Banktivity, your bank will charge a monthly fee (usually $10 or so) to allow you to download transactions directly.

I noted that I would now be spending considerable going through receipts and registers and online accounts to try to rectify the situation. And when I contacted customer support about this issue, I was informed that the option was not available but I could request it. The same problem occurs in the deposit entries: the most recent payer was repeated and repeated and repeated. So their autofill seems to be based on the previous similar entry: PayPal VistaPrint was autofilled repeatedly, often overwriting my entries. I discovered that Banktivity does not offer that option, either. My biggest complaint with Quicken was that I could not turn off the autofill feature. When I switched from Mac Quicken to Banktivity, I was hopeful that my problems would be over. Sure wish you hadn't chosen to go this route.

When IGG finally got back to me days later they said I hadn't sent the info as requested and blamed me for the problem.Īfter their software has cost me hours and hours to deal with bugs and now I'm way in the hole because of them? I had a lot of bad experiences with Quicken back in the day but at least it didn't lose my transactions. I actually sent the requested info twice. So I turned in a ticket and someone responded immediately asking for info about the program and my machine, which I promptly returned. Years ago, IGG Software which publishes this program had a great message board where you could message other users and talk to developers, but they took it away a couple of years ago. This is going to be a very difficult problem to fix. I didn't notice the problem for a few weeks, thought I had more money in my main account than I do and now my budget is way over. Worse, it turned out one of the lost transactions was for - well, let's just say a lot of money. Well, long story short the problem didn't go away. One of the techs mentioned I might have a problem with a corrupted account file, so I spent several hours going through to set up a new one. Started using iBank several years ago and was very happy with it (check my Reviews history for the first release!) Each version seemed to work fine, until 5 - at which point I started noticing 'disappearing transactions' - items I was 100% sure I had entered didn't show up when I went back to reconcile. Oh and one other thing - if you have a question or concern about the Banktivity product, they are always very quick to respond and also helpful.Ĭan't speak highly enough. If you're on a Mac, and you like to have a good, solid, reliable financial software product, this is it.Īnd I am certain that I've tried them all. And then they come up with a new version, with fair and decent pricing, and a wonderful new set of capabilities. I've never been unhappy with Banktivity (formerly iBank), each version seemed fine. I'd made the move to Banktivity several years back when I finally couldn't deal with Quicken's (lack of) support and development for its Mac product. Overall, I feel IGG did an outstanding job with this upgrade. Reports are vastly improved along with a very robust ability to quickly and easily dig way down into the dat? And, we finally we have a universal search tool. There are huge improvements in data entry.

So often developers pump out what they call an 'upgrade' when it is really just another update to the current version. Banktivity Version 6 is an amazing upgrade. I migrated from Quicken about 7 years ago when it was clear that Intuit couldn't give a hoot about the Mac market.
